Editorial Policy, Sources and Corrections

In short: the AthleteRX editorial team compares training gear, recovery tools, wearables and supplements for athletes of every sport and level. We start from official health sources and independent testing, we never make health or cure claims, and a person checks every page before it goes live. Money we earn never decides what a guide recommends.

Who writes our guides

Our pages are written and edited by the AthleteRX editorial team, a small team of researchers and writers who follow sports, training and recovery. We are not doctors, dietitians or physical therapists. Our guides help you compare products and understand the options; they are not medical advice. Before you start a supplement, change your training after an injury, or use heat or cold therapy with a health condition, talk to your doctor or a qualified sports medicine professional.

We are looking for a registered dietitian and a sports medicine professional to review our nutrition and recovery pages. Until that review happens, those pages do not name a medical reviewer. When a page has been reviewed, we will name the reviewer and give the date.

How we research

  • Official health sources first. For supplements and nutrition we start from the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, the U.S. FDA, and position statements from sports nutrition and sports medicine bodies.
  • Third-party testing for supplements. We favor products tested by NSF Certified for Sport or Informed Sport, and we say when a product is not. We never recommend banned or prescription-only substances.
  • Makers’ own specs for gear. Sizes, materials, battery life and warranty terms come from the maker’s site and manuals. When we rely on a secondary source, we say so.
  • No health claims. We describe what a product is and what studies have looked at, in plain words. We do not say a product treats, cures or prevents anything.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help us gather sources, organize research and write first drafts. A person on our team then checks the facts against the original sources, edits the text and decides what is published. We do not publish AI-written text without that check, and AI tools do not choose which products we recommend.

How we earn money, and how we keep it out of our advice

Reading our guides is free. Some product links earn us a commission from the store at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. This never changes what our guides say: no one can pay for a place in a guide, and we tell you when a cheaper option, or no purchase at all, is the honest answer. Read our affiliate disclosure.

Updates and corrections

Products change, and so does the research. Each guide shows when it was last updated. If you spot a mistake, tell us and we will check it and fix the page.
